Strengthen your inner self

Updated: Dec 13, 2021

With so much negativity due to the pandemic, it is so easy to fall prey to a sense of gloom and helplessness. Yes, you are not to blame. However, it is yet important to understand that our state of mind has an important role to play in our strength to face the situation strongly. In fact, as many experts suggest, it can even affect our immunity levels.

This also brings me to a very interesting concept known as the Circle of Control. Those working in the corporate arena or the ones related to the L&D industry would surely be very much aware of this.

It refers to the fact that in any given situation, there are things that are within our circle of control, and there are some that are beyond. The pandemic and the related events are indeed beyond our circle of control. However, there are so many important things that are very much within our circle of control. Can this ensure that we will not be affected? The answer is ‘No’. However, can this ensure that we can significantly reduce our chances of falling prey to this pandemic? The answer is a resounding ‘Yes.

Now, let’s talk about the various things that fall within our ‘Circle of Control’:

Watch what you eat: While we may not realize it, our body is continuously and silently fighting with ‘alien’ elements such as viruses and bacteria in order to keep us protected. Now, more than ever before, it is important for all of us to provide more strength and power to this precious mechanism of immunity created by the almighty. There are so many ingredients commonly available in our kitchen that can do wonders to our power of immunity just if we know how to intelligently make them a part of our daily food intake.

Cut down on stress: It has been proven by research that factors such as fear actually make us more vulnerable to viruses and the ailments they bring along. Hence we can do ourselves a great favour by staying upbeat and keeping our morale high. Let us always remember the ethos of ‘Chardi Kala’ bestowed upon us by our farsighted gurus. It does not mean being averse to the situation, it simply means making our best efforts to stay positive and hopeful in our mindset and attitude.

Stay fit: While one may or may not be possible to access the gym due to frequent lockdowns, yet nothing stops us from maintaining a regime of exercise within our home. Keeping fit helps release important hormones within our body that help in the fight against viruses.

Spiritual Connect: Keeping ourselves safe in times of pandemic is not just a matter of

body and mind, but also of spirit. We owe it to ourselves to keep our spiritual self nurtured through means such as prayer and meditation.
