I am Isra, an artist from New Delhi, India. Currently, I am pursuing my degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts (specialisation in art education) from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, India.
Art has always been on my mind since childhood when I used to see my parents splattering paints on giant canvases. I admired them and I always wanted to be like them; an artist.
I love to explore all art mediums. My favourite medium to work with is oil paints. I was introduced to graphic designing a few years back, and it has been a great experience since then. My work has even been appreciated by many famous personalities as well!
AN ASSOCIATION WITH SCG
I came across SCG while scrolling through a job portal. I was eagerly applying for internships back then. At a certain point, I felt hopeless, and it was then when I received a call from SCG. I was so happy! They conducted an interview with me and the next day I got a recruitment letter! I felt so elated and all of a sudden it felt like my world turned brighter!
I joined SCG on the 26th of July, 2021. It was my first time working in a corporate world as a graphic designing intern. I was so excited! But, with happiness came the real challenge of juggling between my college work and the internship. This instilled management skills in me.
My first project was to design the cover page of SCG’s monthly publication: The Valour (August issue). The most appreciable part SCG has is the process of inculcating the concept through outof-box means. The topic was ‘Flight for Freedom’. I enjoyed working on it and the illustration was appreciated by everyone. I even created more of such graphics for the articles of the magazine.
The printed version of the magazine was delivered to me a few days after. Holding that magazine in my hands felt great! It’s a prized possession! Since then I’ve been creating a lot of creatives, graphics and illustrations; and the current ongoing big project is to design the SCG’s monthly publication (September issue).
MY FIRST BREAK AS AN ILLUSTRATOR
On the 8th of August, 2021, I received a call from one of the mentors from SCG. She wanted me to work as an illustrator for her book which was going to be published by a renowned publisher. I was delighted to hear that; it was like a dream come true moment! This was the first time my illustrations were being published in a book.
I was on cloud nine when I received the book a few days later. It was a proud moment for me and my whole family. It’s a great achievement for me! I can’t thank SCG and its Mentors for considering me to work with them.
LEARNINGS AND TAKEAWAYS FROM SCG
I would say that SCG is a place where one can discover themself. I’ve discovered and explored my talents! It has been a wonderful experience working as a graphic designer here. I came across so many talented people, received many new and big opportunities and achieved a lot!
SCG encourages and motivates people toward their goals. And to be honest, I needed this push, I needed this upliftment!
I can’t thank SCG enough for considering me eligible for the post of graphic designer at SCG. I learned a lot here and gained confidence in my work.
The SCG family accepted me warmheartedly. I loved the friendly environment and I couldn’t be more grateful to the universe for introducing me to such a great team!
It is a joy working at SCG. The time spent here will be engraved in my memory forever!
